We are in a remarkable time in healthcare. Market forces, healthcare policy, and politics have converged to create opportunities that we havent seen in the US or the UK for a century, when healthcare policies for the two countries diverged sharply. By coming full circle, we have a second opportunity to create a more sound and sustainable way to finance our healthcare here in the US. There is much to learn from studying the history of reform efforts on both sides of the Atlantic. But to bring about real transformation, we need to meet the same challenges we faced during the Progressive Era with new ideas and new behaviors. As long as we continue to empower the commercial health insurance industry in our reform efforts and continue our same political decision making processes, we can rest assured that there will be, UNREST INSURED.
