He saved the most sacred religious site in Poland from invading Russians and General George Washington’s life at the Battle of Brandywine. He fell in love with a Duke’s wife and a backwoods Indian maiden and was killed while fighting for American Independence at the Siege of Savannah on October 9, 1779.
