One of the contemporaneous economic debates is the importance of the trade‐labour nexus. Though international trade has brought about profound consequences for the world, there is mixed evidence on the impact of the former on labour market outcomes of various economies. Is international trade in manufactures important for labour in Malaysia? The trends and analyses of two decades documented in this book provide some vital answers. Part 1 of this book gives a comprehensive account of the development trends in labour and trade in Malaysian manufactures. Part 2 brings these trends together in a coherent way for empirical examination on trade‐labour links. Thereon, the book deals with implications for skill formation and theoretical arguments in this field. The issues and evidence in this book contribute to a better understanding and appreciaton of trade‐labour links from the prespective of a middle‐income country.
