One hot afternoon in August 1966, two young brothers are playing catch in the open field next to their home in rural Western New York when a small airplane skims over the treetops and crash lands nearly on top of them. The pilot, a 16-year-old runaway on a personal mission to fly the experimental homebuilt plane from Oswego, NY to Oshkosh, Wisconsin, enlists the aid of the brothers to repair the aircraft and get back in the air.
