The Family That Went to War oleh Gordon Smith

Eye Opening and enjoyable ?By Shannon on February 5, 2016 The history surrounding the great wars is always interesting but also morbid. This novel is centered around 6 members of a single family leaving their day to day lives to join the war efforts. Those who left for war left behind wives, children, and in one case a mother who did not want her underage son to go off to fight a war. As you would expect each saw carnage and death no matter where they were stationed. Along with all this horror surrounding them they still managed to find humor even in their circumstances. This book was a raw and realistic view of war and its effects on a family and those who serve. Reading this book hit close to home for me because my husband is currently serving in the military. While he is not in the line of fire at this moment, just like those in the book it can happen any time. I liked this book I can honestly say it was eye opening and even enjoyable.
